Semi Final Day - Richmond Oval Top of Page
Richmond put on a beautiful sunny day and perfect conditions for football. A large crowd enjoyed four hard fought contests
A couple of crucial
positional changes coupled with a fanatical desire to win got DOSA over the line
second semi-final defeating Hutchins by 7 points. Both teams wasted chances at
goal with Hutchins leading by 6 points at the first break which they increased
to 16 points at half time. Hutchins continued their dominance early in the third
quarter and things looked bleak for DOSA but they rallied and goals in the
latter part of the quarter enabled them to reduce the margin to 7 points at
three quarter time. Hutchins broke out to a 13 point lead early in the final
quarter but the move of Sam Peacock and Cameron Golding to the forward line paid
dividends for DOSA as the latter proved too strong and the former kicked his
team into the grand final. Aaron Parker, Tad Mayhew and Todd Willing while
Hutchins Angus Brettingham-Moore, Claude Alcorso, Larry Owen, Lewis Franks and
Brent O’Leary stood out.
DOSA advanced to
the grand final in the Reserves defeating University and Hutchins won the knock
out semi-final over Channel.

Umpires get an impressive escort!
Hutchins booked a
grand final appointment with DOSA next Saturday in Old Scholars Football
Association with a crushing win over Richmond in the preliminary final at North
Hobart. It was a scramble early but Tom Triffett drew first blood for Hutchins
who added three more goals while Richmond wasted chances with
poor kicking rewarded
only
with a solitary
goal from Kieran Rogers. The second quarter was a repeat of the first with
Hutchins kicking three goals while Richmond could not buy a goal kicking six
behinds to trail by 32 points at half time. With their big men taking control in
the air Hutchins added the icing to the cake, dominating their opponents to ram
home seven goals to one in the third quarter.
They held
a 65 point lead
entering the final quarter which they increased to 89 points at the final siren
in an awesome display. Richmond
lost utility Josh Woolley before half time and sadly missed key forwards Glendon
Bentley and Kurt Baker. Hutchins had winners everywhere with on baller Larry
Owen, defenders Sam Heron, Jamie Clark and Lewis Franks along with midfielders
Sam Wright and Brent O’Leary.
Defenders
Rod Brumby, Jayden Baker and Ben Cato and on ballers Shane Bradford, Dean Bailey
and Mitch Baker battled hard for Richmond.
In the Reserves Hutchins defeated University by 20
points and will face DOSA in the grand final.
